Everyone’s been asking about the Land Surveyor Exam Date 2025 update—what is happening with the land surveyor notification, whether the exam will be conducted, and if a new update is coming. I had already shared some details earlier, but since there is still a lot of confusion, let’s go through the entire timeline and current situation step by step.
First Notification for Land Surveyor Recruitment
Initially, on 29/2/2024, a notification was issued by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC)
- 264 Surveyor posts were announced for the non-Hyderabad Karnataka (Non-HK) division.
- 100 posts were announced for the Hyderabad Karnataka (HK) local division.
The application window was open from 13th March 2024 to 10th April 2024.
Additional Notification and Increased Vacancies
After that, on 6/7/2024, the department issued a letter regarding an additional 386 more surveyor posts
- 296 Surveyor posts were announced for the non-Hyderabad Karnataka (Non-HK) division.
- 90 posts were announced for the Hyderabad Karnataka (HK) local division.
This meant that the total No. of vacancies increased significantly. In total, the commission had to manage more than 750 surveyor posts to be filled through direct recruitment.
Second Recruitment Notification
On 22nd November 2024, another recruitment notification was issued by KPSC to cover these additional vacancies.
If the KPSC exam had been conducted according to the first notification of Land Surveyor there would not have been much confusion to students. But after this second Land Surveyor notification, things became complicated and confused to aspirants.
Government Circular and the Problem
As per a government order dated 22nd January 2024, certain recruitment notifications were to be reviewed of new reservation guidelines.
Later, during the KPSC meeting on 8th April 2025, it was clarified that all notifications issued after 25th January 2024 would be withdrawn immediately in compliance with the circular from the Department of Staff and Administrative Reforms.
Because of this, the Land Surveyor exam process was temporarily stopped. A clarification was requested from the government, but no official response has been received yet.
What the Finance Minister Said on Land Surveyor Exam Date 2025
Interestingly, the Finance Minister Krishna Bairagoud expressed willingness to conduct the Land Surveyor exam. However, due to the procedural complications and the government’s order, the exam process was put on hold.
Just recently, a new update came in:
- The Survey Department clarified that out of the vacant posts, 650 will be filled through direct recruitment via KPSC.
- This means that a new notification is likely to be issued, and the earlier notification may not be used for conducting the exam.
Question in the Assembly and Government’s Reply
During an Assembly session, MLA Shashikala Jolle asked the government about the shortage of surveyors and the difficulties faced by farmers and the public.
In response, the Revenue Minister explained that:
- The government has approved filling 750 vacant surveyor posts.
- KPSC was instructed to fill these posts through direct recruitment.
- A notification had already been issued, but it is currently on hold.
This confirmed that the Land Surveyor Exam Date 2025 is still undecided and depends on government clearance.
Why Was the Notification Stopped?
The main reason is the directive issued on 29th March 2025 by the Department of Staff and Administrative Reforms.
It clearly ordered that all notifications released after 25th January 2024 must be cancelled or kept on hold until further review.
Thus, the KPSC had no option but to suspend the recruitment process.
This does not mean permanent cancellation. The proposal is still active, and once internal approvals are complete, the commission might issue a fresh notification.
Will There Be a Combined Exam?
There is also a possibility that if a new notification is released, the two notifications might be merged, and the exam could be conducted for all the posts together.
This is important for candidates who had already applied, because they are waiting to know whether their applications will still be valid or if they need to apply again. KPSC is expected to give a clear explanation on this matter soon.
Current Situation: Land Surveyor Exam Date 2025
As of now:
- The Land Surveyor Exam Date 2025 has not been announced.
- The earlier notification is on hold, not cancelled.
- The government is planning to fill 650–750 posts through direct recruitment.
- A new notification may be issued after internal clearance.
So, candidates should wait for the official announcement from KPSC.
What Should Aspirants Do Now?
- Keep Preparing: Don’t stop your preparation. The syllabus is not going to change much.
- Track Official Updates: Regularly check the KPSC website and official press releases.
- Stay Patient: These delays are due to policy matters, not because the posts are cancelled.
- Be Ready for a New Notification: In case applications open again, be ready to apply immediately.
Conclusion
The Land Surveyor Exam Date 2025 remains uncertain because of government orders and administrative procedures. The earlier notifications have been kept on hold, but the government has confirmed the need to recruit 750 surveyors soon.
Therefore, a new notification is expected, and the exam may even combine the old and new vacancies. For now, aspirants are advised to wait for KPSC’s clarification and continue their preparation seriously.
There’s no need to worry or repeatedly ask the same question—rest assured, the exam will happen once approvals are cleared.
